Email and push notifications were consistent with motion triggers, and crisp, clean video was recorded with each event. Going wireless with cloud storage capabilities is nice, but you need to factor in the batteries and additional storage space and features unlocked by the premium plans if that is something you need. The Arlo Q Plus lets you record locally via a built-in microSD card slot, alongside a handful of other enhancements when compared to the standard Arlo Q. The Arlo is a relatively expensive outdoor camera that did not wow us in any of our tests. If you like the idea of a wireless outdoor camera, we would suggest looking at the Canary Flex. Not only is the highest video quality disabled in the app by default, there are also several restrictions around 4K streaming and recording that cause frustration – more on that shortly. The base of the Arlo Q can be affixed to the wall for extra security, but I prefer the alternative method. For $10 a month that activity history is extended to 30 days or 10GB, and for $15 you'll get a 60-day history, but still with the 10GB cap.
